Imtex Project Receives $2.8m Funding for Commercialization of Gas Separation Membrane Technology - 09/10/2009

TORONTO, ONTARIO; A project led by Imtex Membranes Corp.
(www.imtexmembranes.com), a leading innovator of advanced membrane
separation technology, today received $2.8M in funding from Sustainable
Development Technology Canada (SDTC).

This funding will be used to support the development of an innovative gas
separation membrane technology for use by the petrochemical industry, among
others. Imtex’s olefin/paraffin separation technology has been shown at the lab
scale to cut energy costs and Greenhouse Gas emissions by up to 90% in standalone
applications, and 30% when used in hybrid applications with traditional
technology. The Imtex technology, which is being designed to be adaptable to
both existing and new production plants, is expected to quickly set new
standards for competitive operating costs and environmental sustainability across
the petroleum industry. An on-site pilot demonstration project is expected to be
completed in 2010.

Imtex is part of the Monteco Group of Companies. Monteco has a 20 year track
record of launching and operating clean technology businesses in the air, water
and energy markets. The company has established itself as a leader in
identifying and commercializing ground-breaking environmental technologies.

“We are very grateful to SDTC for their commitment to Imtex and to clean
technology innovation here in Canada," said Scott Monteith, President and CEO
of Monteco. “We look forward for continued collaboration with our funding
partners to ensure that the energy reduction solutions from Imtex meet the
highest standards for the ethylene and propylene market.”

“The great potential of clean technologies developing by companies like Imtex
shows that Canada is well positioned to successfully transition to the new, green
economy,” said Vicky Sharpe, SDTC President and CEO. “This is a solid
example of how we can develop technological solutions that are good for our
economy and our environment.”

The SDTC funding was part of the organization's fourteenth funding round..
SDTC is a not-for-profit corporation created by the Government of Canada to
finance and support the late-stage development and pre-commercial
demonstration of clean technologies.
